Code of Conduct

Community First

All Things AI (ATAI) is a community and conference series designed to provide a safe, professional environment for learning, collaboration, and connection. Our events bring together people from different backgrounds and experiences, and we want to make sure every participant feels comfortable engaging in open discussion and knowledge sharing.

The Code of Conduct exists to set clear expectations for behavior and to provide a process for addressing problems should they arise.

Reporting Concerns

If you experience or witness behavior that raises concerns, or if you feel unsafe at any point, please let us know:

  • Primary Contact: Mark Hinkle, Co-Founder, All Things AI — mrhinkle@allthingsai.org | 919.228.8049
  • On-site: Speak with a STAFF member at registration or anyone wearing a STAFF badge.
  • Emergency: If immediate safety is at risk, please contact local authorities first.

All reports will be handled promptly, discreetly, and with respect for your privacy.

Professional Expectations

To maintain a productive environment, participants are expected to:

  • Treat others with respect and professionalism.
  • Keep discussions focused on ideas and constructive exchange.
  • Follow event rules and directions from staff.

Ask before photographing or recording others.

Unacceptable Behavior

Certain behaviors undermine a safe and professional environment and will not be tolerated. Examples include:

  • Personal insults or targeted harassment.
  • Sexualized language, images, or behavior in any setting (talks, exhibits, socials, or online).
  • Intimidation, stalking, or unwanted attention.
  • Disrupting talks, sessions, or activities.
  • Unwanted physical contact.

Participants asked to stop such behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Exhibitors, Sponsors, and Speakers

Speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors are part of the ATAI community and are held to the same standards.

  • Booths, presentations, and materials should remain professional.
  • Sexualized content or imagery has no place in our events.
  • Staff, volunteers, or contractors representing exhibitors are expected to maintain a professional atmosphere.

Social Events

ATAI socials are intended to encourage networking and informal discussion.

  • If you need help during a social event—whether you feel unwell, stranded, or unsafe—contact Mark Hinkle or a STAFF member.
  • Alcohol (when served) is for those of legal drinking age. Overconsumption is not an excuse for poor behavior.

Littering and Property Damage

Attendees are expected to maintain a clean and respectful environment. Littering or damaging event or venue property, including but not limited to discarding trash inappropriately, defacing surfaces, or breaking event fixtures, is strictly prohibited.

Online Conduct

This Code also applies to official ATAI online spaces, including forums, chat, and streams. Behavior that violates this policy before, during, or after an event may result in restrictions on future participation.

Consequences

If problems occur, organizers may take action to protect the community. Actions may include:

  • A private warning.
  • Removal from a session or activity.
  • Expulsion from the event without refund.
  • Restriction from future events.
  • Contacting security or law enforcement if necessary.

Accessibility

ATAI works to make events accessible. If you require accommodations (such as dietary, mobility, or audio/visual support), contact mrhinkle@allthingsai.org before the event or speak with STAFF during the event.

Closing

ATAI is a place for professional growth, learning, and collaboration. By treating each other with respect and focusing on constructive engagement, we ensure our community remains a trusted space for all participants.
