Hendrik Strobelt

Hendrik Strobelt is the Explainability Lead at the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab and a Senior Research Scientist at IBM Research. His work focuses on generative computing, human-AI collaboration, visualization, and NLP & AI in general. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Konstanz and has received numerous awards from venues such as IEEE VIS, ACL, and NeurIPS. Hendrik joined IBM after postdoctoral positions at Harvard SEAS and NYU Tandon. He is a co-creator of mellea, an open-source library designed to replace brittle prompts with structured, maintainable, and robust generative AI workflows. Hendrik is also a visiting researcher at MIT CSAIL.
